Many reactions are temperature dependent. It is therefore essential that scientist are able to control the temperature very accurately. In the past water baths were used as an evenly distributed heat source as well as ice to cool down reaction reagents. Many scientists however noticed that these waterbath were a major contamination source. Additionally, the storage of reagents on ice was not always evenly distributed enough or the experiment was long enough for the ice bucket to change into a water bucket.
The FastGene® Hot & Cold Mini Dry Bath is a solution for both problems. A very powerful temperature regulating instrument, the The FastGene® Hot & Cold Mini Dry Bath can be set to an incubation temperature of -10 °C to 100°C. Hence, the FastGene® Hot & Cold Mini Dry Bath can be used as an ice bucket as well as a water bath replacement.
A peltier element is used to control the temperature. These are normally only found in PCR machines. It guarantees the best temperature stability and quick ramp rates.
The FastGene® Hot & Cold Mini Dry Bath is very powerful. Besides the normal temperature holding function it can be set to perform temperature programs as well. With those, the scientist can set up the FastGene® Hot & Cold Mini Dry Bath to perform multiple temperature steps for up to 9 cycles.
The FastGene® Hot & Cold Mini Dry Bath comes with an easy to use calibration function. The customer can perform the calibration saving maintenance costs and assuring a calibrated temperature.
The FastGene® Hot & Cold Mini Dry Bath transfers its temperature to metal blocks. These metal blocks are perfectly designed to fit tightly around small reaction tubes (0.2 ml) to very large 50 ml reaction tubes. The metal blocks, are easy to sterilize and can be autoclaved as well as washed with 70% ethanol preventing them to be a source of infection.
